Mariah Carey may be a global superstar, but at home, she’s just a mom—and her teenage son Moroccan “Roc” Cannon wasn’t quite ready for her surprise visit during his Twitch stream.
While live-streaming a gaming session with friends, the 13-year-old suddenly found himself in an awkward situation as his mother, along with his twin sister Monroe “Roe,” walked into the room. Roc, clearly embarrassed, quickly apologized to his audience. “Sorry, chat. My mom’s here,” he muttered before muting his mic to address her.
His friends, however, were far more excited. As Carey casually leaned into the frame holding a pet, fans in the chat wasted no time greeting her. Messages like “Hey, Mrs. Carey” and “I love you, Mariah” flooded the chat, adding to Roc’s flustered state. Meanwhile, Roe also joined in, playfully carrying both a dog and a cat.
Roc, struggling to maintain his cool, tried to regain control of the situation. “OK, y’all need to get out now. Just, everybody get out,” he pleaded, his tone a mix of amusement and exasperation. His online friends weren’t letting him off the hook so easily, though. As they eagerly asked to say hello to the pop icon, Roc attempted damage control. “Mom, they can see you. They’re saying, ‘Hi Mariah, I love you,’” he said, visibly overwhelmed.
Carey, always gracious, waved and smiled at the viewers. “Hi, you guys! I love you too,” she responded before Roc—still desperate to resume his stream—made another attempt to clear the room. “Can y’all please get out? Love you. Get out of my room!” he begged, laughing through the chaos. After briefly cutting his stream, Roc returned to explain, “My bad, chat. I wasn’t being rude to my mom—I’m just annoyed at Roe.”
Despite the unexpected interruption, the moment provided fans with a rare glimpse into the playful and unfiltered dynamic of Mariah Carey’s family. Even without a stage or a spotlight, the legendary singer still knows how to steal the scene—whether her son likes it or not.
Mariah Carey shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon. The former couple, who divorced in 2014 after eight years of marriage, continue to co-parent their children. Reflecting on their journey, Carey recently told People, “They’re good, kind-hearted kids. Watching them grow is actually really beautiful.”
